Fastpitch Softball Rules
Fastpitch softball rules can vary significantly depending on the type of league or tournament you enter. On top of the various associations like the ASA and NSA, there are also different rules by the USSSA, NCAA/NFHS, and International Softball Federation.
The differences in rules can be as simple as pitching mound distance to as complicated as uniform and equipment types. Almost all leagues have some type of rule on fastpitch softball bats. Additionally, rules can govern the field, actions on the field, safety equipment, sportsmanship, and virtually anything else you can do in or around a softball field.
Equipment rules can vary drastically from being required to wear NOCSAE certified helmets by the USSSA to having "Official ISF Approved Softball" stamped on your fastpitch bat for the International Softball Federation.
